Faculty of the DEM at the Annual Congress of the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering 2025
Dec 03, 2025
Professors Héctor Sanz-Fraile and Rosa Pàmies Vilà took part in the XLIII Annual Congress of the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering (CASEIB 2025), held in Zaragoza from November 19 to 21, 2025.
Professor Héctor Sanz-Fraile presented the following works:
- "Influencia de la arquitectura interna en estructuras ceràmiques de YSZ impreses en 3D per a aplicacions biomèdiques", a study that uses micro-CT to analyse how hexagonal and linear geometries modify total porosity and its spatial distribution, revealing greater connectivity and homogeneity in hexagonal designs.
- “Comparison of the multiscale mechanics of extracellular matrix derived myocardial and collagen I hydrogels”, where multiscale mechanical properties of collagen- and myocardial ECM-based hydrogels are assessed, aiming to improve realism in in vitro model platforms.
Professor Rosa Pàmies-Vilà served as session chair in the biomechanics track and presented two studies focused on neonatal brain development and automatic detection of quiet sleep in aEEG:
- "Detección y Cuantificación del Sueño Tranquilo en Neonatos: Desarrollo de una Aplicación Interactiva para la Revisión Clínica de aEEG"
- "Análisis de la Entropía Multiescala en la Maduración Cerebral Neonatal"
The participation of the department’s faculty at CASEIB 2025 highlights its continued commitment to multidisciplinary biomedical engineering research and to the transfer of knowledge within clinical and technological fields.
